1. Major Features Added

We have recently performed a major update to the MedStar Web System. Below is a summary of all the updates, and details on a few. Details on the rest will be in next month's newsletter, but complete details on all can be found right now online at:

http://www.cybernetmedical.com/news/newsletter01-05.html

2. Locations

We have added location grouping of patients to the system. What this will allow you to do is to seperate your patients into geographical categories, type of care categories, or other designations that are cared for by specfic groups of nurses. This, along with the new STAFF user, allows for a nurse or other type of user who is responsible for the care of any patient within their boundary to have access to only those patient records without having to be specifically designated to them as the providers are.

From the Administration login go to TASKS - (Manage) LOCATIONS. This page allows you to create groups within your agency. These locations will then be accessible via the patient profile page during enrollment or reassignment of a patient from the administrator level. At the bottom of the Locations page is
an Assign button. This takes you to a page that lists all of your patients and allows you to move your patients quickly from one location to another without using the profile page, so that initial setup of a group for existing patients can be done quickly.

3. Patient List Page

For Providers and Staff users the Patient List page has been redesigned. It has been reformatted to make it easier to read, and more actions have been added to manage your patients. Links now exist that lead directly to specific procedures, as well as the profile, data and report pages for the designated patient. From here you can activate and deactivate patients in the system as their care needs change.

4. Flexible Reporting

The reporting system has been revamped to allow for the designation of day and time. From your preferences page you can set more details about the type of report and when it is transmitted to you. This gives you the flexibility to have reports received on specific days and at times that best fit your needs.

Designations for the reports now include:

Frequency:

  • Daily (Sunday through Saturday)
  • Every (Sent only on the days of the week specified)
  • Weekly (Sent only on the day of the week you select)
  • Monthly (Sent on the first day of the month)

Day:

  • Based on the frequency you can set the specific day of the week you wish to have the report delivered.

Time:

  • You can set the hour that you wish your report to be generated.

5. Faxing

We now offer Faxing of reports and notifications via the website. This option must be enabled before it is used. If you would like to utilize this option, please contact our sales department at:

6. Summary of Other Features Added

Staff Users (Nurses, Call Center Personal, etc...)

  • New to the v2.50 release of the website is a Staff user. This user allows for a Nurse, Care Giver or Call Center personnel to access the website and view any patient within their designated location.
  • This login looks and behaves exactly like the provider login with the exception of how patients are assiged to this user. Using the new Locations, described above, Staff users and patients are assigned to the designated location where care givers and nursing staff are assigned to take care of them
  • Staff members can:
    • Enroll new patients, only into their location
    • Assign / Return devices to / from patients
    • Assign and reassign providers to patients
    • Generate reports on desired patients
    • Change procedure information
    • Deactivate patients as care needs change
    • Set up default procedure monitoring parameters to make enrollment easier
    • View patient data and information
    • View / clear alert notifications
    • All other functions normally associated with the providers login, without the need for specific designation on the patients profile page, as the provider is required

Instant Alerts of Out of Limit Readings

  • This feature allows you set up any alerts to be immediately sent to the proper care provider.
  • Instant alerts have been added to the system to transmit Out of Limit readings to designated individuals. From the administrators login select TASKS - (Add) ALERTS. This page gives you the ability to manage how, when and where Out of Limit notifications are transmitted. You can set multiple or a single point where these alerts are transmitted, based on the time of day and who is responsible for handling those alerts and determining if immediate care is necessary. By setting a default instance any time that isn't specifically covered by another individual entry is sent to the default one allowing you to have a backup or final instance where alerts are sent.
  • These alerts are designated by locations. This allows you to have different sites containing different staff members responsible for their own patients.

Devices

  • The system has been updated to make managing your devices easier.
  • The way that devices move within the system has changed. Instead of assigning devices from your location to the provider and then to the patient, and back again, devices now only belong to the designated location. Staff, providers and administrators will be able to assign any device in the same location as the patient. When devices are returned they are returned to the location they were checked out from so they can be used again within that same area for another patient. This was done because we have seen that the home care and nursing staff are the ones actually assigning and inventoring devices, not the providers who are only prescribing devices.
