NEW WOUND CARE CAPABILITIES

As part of our continuing effort to improve patient care options and ease of use, the Cybernet Medical team has recently updated the MedStar System to allow for quick insertion of wound care images to a patient record that are taken from appropriately equipped cellular phones (camera-enabled devices with media transmission capabilities and service plans).

As new cellular phones are now commonly available with high density digital picture capabilities, it has become ideal to make use of these devices to provide both patients and nurses the ability to easily take pictures and upload them to patient records without manual uploading or in-office assistance.

This new capability is provided for use by traveling nurses and tech-savvy patients. It allows images to be remotely uploaded to patient records in minutes, facilitating simple remote consultation and examination. While intended for wound care use, this feature can be used in any situation where pictures would be useful.

MEDICAL IT TARGETED IN STIMULUS PLAN

While it is still being negotiated in the Senate, the $825 billion economic stimulus proposal passed by the House of Representatives includes a $20 billion effort to encourage the adoption of new health care information technology.

The health IT provision as it currently stands includes incentives to encourage health care providers to adopt health IT measures, as well as penalties for providers that do not. This funding also would be used to train IT workers, build a national health information exchange, provide hardware for hospitals and physicians, and to fund grants for providers who do not participate in Medicare or Medicaid.
