FDA APPROVES MEDSTAR FOR TEMPERATURE AND INR MONITORING

This month, the FDA granted approval for the MedStar System to support two more devices: Temperature Monitors and INR Monitors. This brings the total count of devices the MedStar supports up to 7: Temperature, INR, Weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse Oximetery, Spirometery, and Blood Glucose.

The hand-held MedStar unit's new Blood Coagulation and Temperature monitoring features now allow healthcare providers to conduct even more detailed regular remote checks on patients with a wide variety of disease states from their home: including asthma, hypertension, congestive heart failure (CHF) and diabetes. And because the MedStar collects data directly from the measurement devices and transmits it to a collection server over a standard telephone line, patients can use it anywhere and at any time.

NEW FAX FEATURES ADDED

We have added a variety of fax features to allow you to send reports quickly to those who need them. Below is a short outline of the new features. If you want more details, please contact customer support.

Faxing of generate report page report notes:

• You can now fax any report generated from the 'generate report' page of the staff and provider.
• Please use the 'Print Preview' option to view how the report will look before faxing, as this is the same format used for generating the FAX.
• This feature is located:
  • On the 'Provider and Staff Generate Report' Page.

In-site faxing of printable report notes:

• Faxes are sent directly to patient's providers or other designated parties.
• This feature is located:
  • On any data page that allows for printing.
  • These should now all display 'FAX Report' buttons.

Automated Tasks Address Display notes:

• You can now set up for specific reports to be generated and faxed automatically, such as out of limit and out of compliance reports.

PDF REPORTS

The MedStar web software now provides all reports as standard Adobe Acrobat .pdf-formatted documents.

PDF-formatted report feature notes:

• Most print pages now generate a PDF-formatted document that contains a header, with the website logo, current page number, number of pages and the patient name, if applicable.
• Adobe Reader is required, and can be freely downloaded using the link on the login page of the website.
• This feature is located:
  • Almost anywhere a "Print Report" button exists.
